There are a few walks in the Glass House Mountains, some more interesting than others. The Federation Walk is part of a peaceful network of trails that include Philip Park and Doug Jennings Park. Explore the wet and dry eucalypt forests, rainforest, melaleuca forest, casuarina woodland, salt marsh and the mangroves. Some of the stranglers are incredibly huge and you can almost hide in their buttresses. We usually combine this walk with the 50m detour to Mapleton Falls Lookout, though you cant actually see the falls very well (plus in winter theres hardly any water). The path leads you out to the banks of the Maroochy River and a landing jetty. This 35,700-hectare national park is home to a huge selection of flora and fauna, including many rare and endangered plants and animals. You can even grab a bite to eat at Alexander Cafe or Surf Club. Follow the signs that point you to the trail and enjoy the stroll amongst the luscious greenery. Kidfit has teamed up with the Heart Foundation and Sunshine Coast Council to run free Pram Walks across the Coast. At the start of the hike is a lovely picnic area with barbeques.
